Is Spruce HIPAA-compliant?
Spruce supports HIPAA-compliant communications across phone, texting, faxing, and telehealth. Every eligible Spruce organization automatically receives a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement (BAA) as part of the terms of service - no separate agreement, opt-in, or additional fees required.
You electronically agree to the Spruce BAA when you create an organization on Spruce, and you can review this agreement in our terms of service.
Can I have a video visit through Spruce?
Yes. Your provider can initiate a video call with you through Spruce, which you can accept on your phone, iPad, or computer. Your provider will typically schedule the visit in advance and send you a message beforehand. Just make sure you're logged in to the Spruce app or website at the time of your appointment. Note that patients cannot initiate video calls.
Why does my doctor use Spruce?
Your provider uses Spruce to keep all communication — phone, text, secure messaging, and video — in one HIPAA-compliant app. That means faster responses, no missed messages, and a more organized experience for you as a patient.
