Virtual Counseling Practice Uses a Spruce Business Phone Line and Fax to Securely Communicate With Clients

Melissa Comeau, Ed.S., LMHC, LMFT, NCC, has 15 years of experience and training working with individuals, couples, and groups from diverse backgrounds to help improve their relationships. 

She’s worked in college counseling centers where one of the top concerns is relationship issues. She started her career working in community mental health and non-profit agencies where she received training and experience identifying unhealthy and toxic relationships. 

She has also received advanced training, additional certifications, and additional licenses to expand her knowledge as a marriage and family therapist and relationship expert to be of service to individuals and couples struggling in their relationships.

What kind of work do you do?

Heartfelt Counseling Center offers couples therapy and individual counseling for those struggling with relationship issues. Our practice serves clients across the state of Florida as a fully virtual practice. The team focuses on relationships; romantic relationships, family relationships, and friendships. Relationship counseling is not just what we do; it’s all we do.

How long have you been doing it?

I’ve been in the mental health field for 15 years.

What first brought you to Spruce?

I was starting my private practice and a colleague recommended Spruce as a service I can use for my business telephone line. But I quickly learned that there were other features that I could use to support my growing practice.

How do you use Spruce at work?

I use it for my business telephone line, to securely communicate with my clients, and for the e-fax service. I mostly use Spruce to communicate with my clients via the secure text feature in the app. This is where I share their therapy homework, I conduct check-ins with them in-between sessions, and I coordinate scheduling.

What is your favorite Spruce feature?

My favorite feature about Spruce is that it is a HIPAA- compliant communication service that has an app to use on mobile devices and that I can securely message my clients through.

What do you like to do most when you’re not working?

When I’m not working, I like to spend time with my family.
