He has every couple create a Spruce account during onboarding and use it from that point on, sending a series of orientation messages to each new client and a summary after most sessions so people can stay present instead of taking notes. His favorite feature, and the one doing the heavy lifting, is Saved Messages (templates), which he uses to send the books, blog posts, and resources he recommends most.

A bit about the business…

I work with couples exclusively. Premarital, established relationships/marital, and affair recovery. I’ve been a therapist for 25 years, focused on couples most of that time, and have worked with couples exclusively for two years.

What first brought you to Spruce?

I think I first heard of Spruce on a website that was listing/comparing HIPAA-compliant messaging apps, and highly recommended it.

How do you use Spruce at work?

I have all couples create a Spruce account as part of our onboarding process and ask them to use Spruce exclusively from that moment on. I have a series of brief orientation messages that go out to every person who creates an account. Also, after most therapy sessions, I use Spruce to send a summary of what we talked about so clients don’t have to take notes and can be fully present in session.

Spruce’s Saved Messages function is incredibly helpful for this. I have used the Saved Messages function to make dozens of messages containing links to various resources. So if there’s a book I tend to recommend to clients often, I’ll create a Saved Message with an Amazon link to that book. I do this for blog posts, videos, books, movies, and any resources I recommend with any regularity.

What is your favorite Spruce feature?

Saved Messages. But I love everything about Spruce. It’s easily one of my favorite apps ever, whether business or personal.

What do you like to do most when you’re not working?

When I’m not working, I like to spend time with my wife, three adult daughters and their husbands, and two grandchildren. I like to try out new apps on my Mac and iPhone, and I play guitar and listen to music. Video games are also in the mix!

You can learn even more about David Flowers at https://davidflowerstherapy.com/.

New to Spruce?
